Wrights Beach, CA Coast

The sound of the water's indecisiveness always gets me.. Will the ocean ever make up it's mind? Falling in love with the land, chasing it down.. But then of course the love if lost, and the water runs away.
The California coast will forever have a special place in my heart. I'm in love with the rocky beaches that force you to use your hands to catch your balance as you're attempting to make your way over the terrain to the other end of the beach. I love spending hours crawling over the roughness, scratching myself up just to find the most beautiful looking rocks. But, I also love those huge, flat beaches where the sand is as soft and luscious as Rapunzel's long, golden hair.
Wright's Beach, located about 6 miles north of Bodega Bay, is a mix of the two and you can camp.. Who wouldn't want to spend a weekend there?! There is running water, plumbing and it is cemented.. So it's a bit more developed than the rugged Lost Coast in Northern California, but trust me, it's worth it.
From the campsite you can take the Kortum trail north to some fantastic views of the lovely Pacific. Or if you're recovering from a splendid night, you could just drive north along the Coast Highway to Shell Beach for a good afternoon. (The Kortum trail leads you here, and further!)
